YAZD
- Yazd dates from Sassanian Period (224-651), located midway between Isfahan and Kerman, 689 km (427 miles) southeast of Tehran.
- Is a relaxed, tree-lined town, lies on the edge of Kavir Desert at the foot of tall mountains with an altitude of 1230m (4059') so can be very hot in summer and very cold in winter.
- Population is over 300,000. Yazd was an important pre-Islamic city.
