Yazd
ZOROASTRIAN FIRE TEMPLE
- It attracts Zoroastrians and other people from around the world.
- The sacred flame apparently been burning for tha last 3000 years, (transferred from its original site in 1940).
- Also, Ghaleye Asadan (Fortress of Lions), in the northeast of Yazd houses another Zoroastrian eternal flame which was transferred there about 20 years ago.
- Also, visit other Zoroastrian sites Tower of Silence built on two hills. You may see broken human bones because Zoroastrians thought burying remains would contaminate the Earth so they left the corpse on platforms. Today, they are buried in concrete graves.
