REZA ABBASI MUSEUM
- Named after one of the great artists of the Safavid period.
- It is one of the best museums in Tehran which is located in a modern four story building. Put this museum on your top 3 places to visit in Tehran. There are many varieties of objects on show consisting of two divisions, Pre-Islamic and Islamic galleries. You can see Iranian Art from 6,000 BC to the 20th century.
- Contains examples of Islamic arts and painting, dating back to 14th century with fine minai from Kashan and plates from Neishapur, and display of calligraphy from ancient Koran. The first floor devoted to miniatures and illustrations from Ferdosi's Shahnameh (The Book of Kings).
- Also, the museum includes delicate pottery from Neolithic times, Luristan bronzes from the 9th and 10th century BC, the most beautiful jewelry from different dynasties (ex. Median, Achaemenian, Parthian, Sassanian), metalworks, architectural elements, and drinking cups in the shape of animal's head.
