RASHT 
- Rasht is located on the Sefid delta and is the capital of Gilan Province. Rasht is the largest city in Caspian provinces with population of about 390,000. Gilan province is known for its mountains and most people live around Rasht.

- Rasht is about 324 km (194 mi) from northwest Tehran. It is wet and could be very humid in summer. Mid-Spring is one of my favorite time to travel to North of Iran.
- Traveling from Tehran to North of Iran cross the Alborz Range by car can be an enjoyable and interesting trip from the geographical point of view. The drive is filled with astonishing scenery and one can feel the sudden change to an almost sub tropical climate. The road to Rasht passes through Qazvin (Ghazvin) and Rudbar. The vegetation becomes much thicker from Rudbar which leads to Sefid delta and Rasht.
Asalem Heights in Gilan Province
- Rasht has been occupied by Russian several times in its history. The last time Rasht was occupied, it was at the end of World War II.
- Rasht is an important industrial center for the processing of agricultural products.
- Visit Rasht Museum which displays a collection of local archaeological findings, ceramics, pottery, and traditional clothes. Rasht is known for wood carvings.
